How to Grow Your Instagram Followers

Oh Instagram, how we love thee. Let us count the ways. Most marketers haven’t really tapped into the potential success of Instagram.

Here’s how:

Your photos should always be bright and clear. Most people take pictures with their Iphones and then use one of the many filters on Instagram (I’ve been guilty of this many times) Wrong, wrong, wrong! Whatever you do, don’t use the filters, use a photo editing program like Photoshop or Snapseed- those are both great ways to get photos clear and bright. Avoid blurred photos with dull colors.

Network with other Instagram influencers. If you want your followers to grow, reach out to¬†like-minded¬†influencers on Instagram that can help you. By tagging each other, reposting and commenting on each other’s posts you can grow your following considerably.

Use relevant hashtags. Use hashtags that are catchy, unique and will create a buzz. Using the name of your brand is not a good idea as it might backfire if people start using it in a negative way.

Create posts that are relevant and interactive. Post pictures that people can’t help but comment on! Try to integrate your product in a distinctive and innovative way. Be creative and most importantly–have fun!

Timing matters. Most Instagram users are online at night. If you post at around 8-9 pm at night, you are more likely to reach more people.

Be consistent. Try to post at least two times a day. Once at lunch time and the other at night everyday. Yes, everyday!

Figure out what your followers like. Experiment with different images and determine what to post based on the response. What people respond to might not be what you think. Remember its always about engagement.

Update: I’ve actually been practicing what I preach, for the past few weeks, I’ve been actively posting pictures and have grown to over 400 followers. Please follow me on Instagram: @MissKacyK
