In an epic night destined to be etched in the records of innovation, Red Stripe presents the grand debut of Rumvolution. Curated by the entertainment giants, Dream Entertainment and Romeich Entertainment, their aim is to kick off the summer by embracing the spirited showdown between the invigorating realms of soca and dancehall. This unparalleled event emerges as a prelude of novelty and distinction with infectious vibes reminiscent of the celebrated clash days.

Upon entering the expanse of Mas Camp arena, one is immediately captivated by the gracefully positioned Rum Stripe dancers, adorned in vibrant hues of yellow and red an homage to Rum Stripe’s premier flavours—Coconut Pine and Cranberry—the atmosphere pulsates with anticipation as these tantalizing concoctions take centre stage.

As the space quickly fills, 5000 fortunate souls secures their place within this extraordinary gathering, poised to bear witness to a lineup of unparalleled magnificence. 

Representing dancehall, team Cranberry, boasting the musical prowess of DJ Banka, Shukkle Bus, and DJ Mental,  ignite the atmosphere with their pulsating beats. On the opposing front, showing up for soca music is Team Coconut Pine, comprising the talents of Brush1, DJ Franco, and Riche Ras, who take up the mantle and unleash an unparalleled auditory spectacle. Little do we know, this opening barrage merely hints at the awe-inspiring performance that awaits us.

‘Whap Whap’ hitmaker Skillibeng opens the segment of the concert section of the night with the latest hit “Know Why” and the crowd goes wild.

Draped in a resolute gray hoodie, his locks cascading beneath a vibrant red headband, Roze Don emerged as a modern-day dancehall Cassanova captivating the hearts of women in the enraptured crowd. His recently released masterpiece, aptly titled “BakShat,” left an indelible mark upon the collective consciousness, a sure anthem for 2023.

The resounding echoes of his chart-topping track, aptly titled “One Word Boss,” had already become a resounding mantra on the lips of the masses during the unprecedented times of the pandemic. And now, finally, draped in a ski mask and a striking emerald jacket, complemented by matching green dunks, Ja Frass infects us with his rhythm of “One Word Boss” which resonated within every heart present, binding the audience together in a shared experience of transcendence.

The highlight of the evening for some was when Skeng Don finally stepped out on the stage. Dressed in a white t-shirt and backpack, wowed the crowd invigorating 2022 hit, “London”.

Amidst the electrifying symphony of rhythms and beats, an icon emerges. Fast-rising “Dunce Cheque” star Valiant gets the crowd wild with his amazing performance leaving the crowd speechless.

One patron described it as, “ An amazing experience! A great way to showcase Jamaica’s upcoming dancehall talent and just in time for the summer.” 

Rumvolution left patrons wanting more and anticipating what they have in store for summer.
